HAND & UPPER EXTREMITY REHABILITATION:
Upper extremity injuries can be caused by traumatic injury from an automobile accident, fall, or impact at work or during a contact sport. Other times, upper extremity problems are caused by
strain of tendons or joints from repetitive activites, such as leisure & competitive sports, like tennis, baseball & golf.
Upper extremity injury of the shoulder, arm, hand and wrist can span all age ranges, from young children to older adults. For younger people, overuse, sprain/strain injuries is a
common byproduct of active participation in competitive sports. For older adults, arthritis and degenerative joint disease becomes more of a common complaint for treatment.
Work related injuries also play a large role with upper extremity injuries. Many jobs today put individuals at risk for a hand injury in the form of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or
DeQuervain's Tenosynovitis.
